Education as the key to an independent and self-reliant life.
We feel privileged to live in Switzerland, where education is accessible to all. Unfortunately, this is not the case everywhere in the world. In Zanzibar, there is a particular lack of well-educated professionals. That is why we have set ourselves the following goals:
- construction, maintenance and operation of a primary school with housing for teachers and a playing field for children.
- improvement of the hygienic conditions, prevention of diseases
- financial support in case of illness
- construction, maintenance and operation of handicraft and training facilities
- construction of a vocational school with integrated youth hostel
- provision of apprenticeships in the region
- promotion of sustainable agriculture to guarantee self-sufficiency and create jobs
Young people should receive solid vocational training so that they can achieve financial independence in their own markets. Through the training, their confidence in their own abilities should be developed and strengthened so that they will continue and develop our projects in the future.
We have already achieved:
- The construction of a draw well for water supply in the school
- The construction of showers to improve hygiene conditions
- The construction of the Ndijani primary school and successful school operation for approx. 500 children
- The construction of a multi-purpose hall and canteen in Ndijani
- The registration for the land in Makunduchi for the youth hostel
- Government approval for further land in Makunduchi for the vocational school and agricultural projects
